Louvered Vents
Protection From the Elements
Louvered vents provide protection from the elements like wind-driven rain, snow and even critters. Commonly used in exterior wall applications, like gable-end walls for attic applications, or low on a home (such as foundation and crawlspace applications) to support proper airflow. In the summer, the home may be cooled with air conditioning but heat rises, getting caught under the roof—so high wall venting helps release trapped heat and stabilize attic temperatures. The same can be said of the winter; extreme temperature shifts are even harder on an attic’s open space. In lower-wall applications, airflow helps manage foundation and crawlspace moisture by reducing damp, stale air that can contribute to musty odors and conditions that support mold and mildew.
Providing necessary attic ventilation,
but self-closing when it matters most.
Our fire and ember-resistant continuous vents for soffits provide the needed ventilation into attic space down the entire length of the soffit.
V2 Vents are ideal for new construction in various materials and retrofit kits are available for existing continuous vents on the home. Strip vents such as ours do not use airflow-interrupting baffles, resulting in more venting per square inch. Our continuous vents for soffits feature a stainless steel ember screen and intumescent matrix that closes in the event of high heat.
Use EverKem Fire Caulking
- We recommend using EverKem 814+, intumescent fire caulking with all installation of V2 Vents.
- Our round eave vents are the exception: EverKem 136, mortar based caulking should be used when mounting hardware isn’t an option and flanges are minimal.
- INSTALLATION: Prior to installing the vent, run a bead of EverKem behind the nailing flange to ensure an air tight seal where the vent meets the building material. This ensures that no gaps are present between the vent and your building material where flying embers might enter!

Vulnerable Areas
Depending on your home’s design, the attic and crawlspaces of a home are some of the most vulnerable areas of a home during a wildfire attack, and if those spaces are ventilated, they must be protected. The Vulcan Vent is equipped with a stainless steel ember-stopping mesh and an intumescent honeycomb layer that expands to block heat and flames —helping to protect these vulnerable openings while still allowing the ventilation of your attic, foundation, or crawlspace to aspirate properly.
Elevate Protection with Cutting-Edge Fire Vents!
Home safety starts with fire-resistant venting.
Due to an ember-catching mesh screen and an intumescent coating that expands in high heat, the V2 Vent is prepared to protect a house from dangerous embers and flames. The fire and ember-stopping technology are positioned behind the louvers, making for a safe and attractive louvered vent.
V2 Vents can be easily installed in a variety of construction material including:
- Wood Siding
- Stucco
- Mil Core
- Foam Back
- Fiber Cement
V2 Vent Ember-Resistant Vents Include:
- G90 hot dipped, galvanize steel (unless customized)
- 304 stainless steel ember mesh
- Honeycomb matrix with 1 hour intumescent coating
- Galvanized pest abatement screen (some models excluded)
Louvered Applications: Flange Styles
These installation examples showcase various flange styles and how they can be used to layer into a louvered end application. We offer various flange styles for new and existing construction. Because our louvered vents are extremely durable and storm resistant, they also make a great choice when used as a foundation / crawlspace vent!
Retrofit Applications
Pick the right flange for the job!
Not all flange styles are ideal for retrofit applications. This is due to certain flange styles being designed to go behind your building’s exterior cladding. If your shingles or stucco is existing for instance, it would be difficult to get the nail flange behind that material. If removing the existing vent is possible, a trusty “Flange Front”, or FF style is often used.
Retrofitting, or “home hardening” are terms often used when upgrading, or replacing an existing vent with a fire and ember resistant vent. There are many methods used to accomplish that goal. We offer louvered vents with a “retrofit flange”, designed to be installed over the face of an existing louvered vent. [not shown] However, there are other options to consider.
We offer our V2 Matrix as a standalone product. This is our most flexible option. Installation is simple; simply cut to fit and then, install from the back side of the existing vent. This method can be used to retrofit louvereds, dormers, and even foundation vents. You can find the instructions here.

Testimonials
Posted on MERCY GIRALATYE4 December 2024 I experienced difficulty calculating the number of vents required for my project and reached out to the company for assistance. I spoke with Nate Oliver, who provided exceptional support by patiently explaining the calculations and ensuring I had the correct information. He took the time to ask pertinent questions to provide an accurate answer. It is uncommon to find a company where you can easily speak to a knowledgeable representative rather than an automated system and receive comprehensive assistance. I was highly impressed with the service I received and wholeheartedly recommend Vulcan vents to everyone.Posted on Kyle Pennington27 November 2024 Impeccable support!!!!Posted on Tianna Loverin- Serrato, In N Out Services (Tianna, In N Out Services)11 September 2024 I called to ask questions about the balcony inspection vents for an upcoming job and a member of their marketing team, who answered the customer service line, Nate O., was extremely knowledgeable and helpful! He gave us lots of product knowledge and recommendations for installation. Great job V2 Vents, thank you!!Posted on Peter Fehler30 May 2024 We all know the quality of their brands, but having it then be coupled with awesome customer service, makes using Vulcan and Firestorm products a "no-brainer."Posted on Doug Mack27 May 2024 The service from V2 Vents was first class. There product is easy to install and well made. I would recommend there line of products for all venting situation. General Contractor Carmel CaPosted on Susan Oddo4 December 2023 We called to find out if the Vulcan vents would meet the California ember retardant standards for fire. Nate Oliver took our call and spent nearly half an hour providing us with in depth information, guiding us through their website to view and discuss each alternative and even taking us to another website to view the Vulcan product on it. He discussed different options for installing the vents and the specific type of caulk we needed that also met the fire-wise requirements. Then he guided us to the section where we could download the documentation for our insurers. We came away from this conversation with exactly what we needed and the documentation to back it up. I can't say enough good things about Nate's customer service. His knowledge was remarkable, his eagerness to ensure that we ordered the exact right vent was so reassuring, and we immediately posted the V2 Vent information on our neighborhood Facebook site so that others in our fire-prone area can obtain the right products for their venting needs. If I could give 10 stars I would.Posted on Sandie Hewston15 November 2023 After a few months of having the new V2 Vents installed in our eaves, I am extremely impressed with the updated design. The 1/8” fine mesh on the outside prevents insects from getting into the ‘honeycombs’ and the 1/4” mesh on the inside adds coverage from attic side to the ‘honeycombs’ without reducing airflow. The ingenious design allowed plenty of airflow to the attic through this past summer, but if a fire were to come our way, it is comforting to know that these same vents will expand and close off, preventing embers or direct flame from being able to enter the attic. A bonus to the design, as you can see in the picture below, is that the thickness of the vent prevents being able to see into the attic and preventing attic insulation from getting pushed up against the outside screen, which somehow tends to happen whenever access is made to attics. Aesthetically and design-wise, these vents provide a solid home hardening solution that is easy to install. These vents are a must in my opinion for any homeowner who has any plants near their home that could generate significant heat during a wildfire. The combination of the 1/8” mesh and the coating that expands and cuts off all airflow into the attic when exposed to radiant heat are the perfect combination to prevent embers, radiant heat, and direct flame from entering the attic space. My experience with this local company (Loomis, California) is that they have excellent customer service and go above-and-beyond to ensure that their customers are satisfied with the quality of their product.
